Programme Title: B.A. Honours Degree (Philosophy and Religious Studies)

Duration: 4 Years (8 Semesters) or 3 Years (6 Semesters) for Direct Entry

Philosophy of the Department:

The programme is designed to provide a solid foundation for the thorough instruction in the traditional quadrivium of philosophy viz: Epistemology and Metaphysics, History of Philosophy, Logic and Values, including Ethics and Aesthetics, Social and Political Philosophy.

The fundamental objective of the programme is to understand the human person in his or her complex nature, and in his or her multifaceted relationships with the world around and beyond. It is in this complex that we try to investigate and explain those aspects of Man's nature that particularly concern or challenge him.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

UTME

1. The minimum entry requirements are credit level passes in 5 subjects at one sitting, including English language or 6 Credits in two sittings at the WASSCE or NECO Examinations. Note that at least a pass in Mathematics is required.
2. Candidates must sit for the unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations of JAMB and obtain the prescribed cut-off marks as a statutory requirement for entry into Nigerian Universities.
3. The UTME subjects combination must include English Language and any three (3) other Arts, Social Science or Science subjects.
4. Candidates must also fulfill the demands of the Post UTME Screening exercise.

Direct Entry

1. Candidates must have a University Degree, or National certificate of Education (NCE) or a good GCE A/LEVEL result.
2. Candidates with academic degrees must present NYSC discharge or exemption certificate
3. Candidates must purchase and complete the UTME forms prescribed as statutory requirement for direct entry admissions into Nigerian Universities.
4. The minimum entry requirements of credit passes in 5 subjects at one sitting, including English Language and a pass in Mathematics, or 6 Credits in two sittings at the WASSCE or NECO Examinations, is also applicable.
