OUR UNITS
Our library is divided into units, this is to enable us serve you more efficiently and effectively. Each of these Units has a unique method of service delivery for your comfort. The following units exist in DU library:
In library and information science, cataloging is the process of creating metadata representing information resources, such as books, sound recordings, moving images, etc
The Reference section of the Library houses the Library’s reference books, which are those materials that are meant to aid research by providing quick and accessible information on any particular topic. These materials are usually used to find facts or provide broad overviews of topics.
The main public service point is the circulation desk or loans desk, usually found near the main entrance of a library. It provides lending services and facilities for return of loaned items
The Collection Development Librarian and faculty work together to build the Libraries’ collection.
Serial is expected to continue indefinitely. Serials include magazines, newspapers, annuals (such as reports, yearbooks, and directories), journals, memoirs, proceedings, transactions of societies, and monographic series
An archive is an accumulation of historical records or the physical place they are located. Archival collections can often be found within library buildings.
The Bindery/Reprography Unit is headed by a senior staff that works with other subordinates to make sure all the activities carried out in the unit are effectively and efficiently done.
