Welcome to the Faculty of Sciences at Dominican University, Ibadan!.
The Faculty of Science is at the forefront of promoting scientific knowledge and innovation to address the global and local challenges of today. In a world where scientific advancement and technology drive societal development, the Faculty is committed to producing graduates who are not only knowledgeable but also skilled in applying scientific principles to solve real-world problems.
Science plays a critical role in addressing environmental, health, and technological issues that affect humanity. As our world faces challenges like climate change, emerging diseases, food security, and the need for sustainable development, the role of science in providing solutions cannot be overemphasized. The Faculty of Science aims to prepare its students to be leaders in these fields, capable of making significant contributions to national development and global progress.
At Dominican University, we believe that science education is essential for developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Our Faculty is dedicated to fostering an environment of inquiry and research, where students are encouraged to explore, innovate, and push the boundaries of scientific knowledge. We recognize that education in science not only contributes to the intellectual growth of the individual but also enhances societal well-being by promoting the practical application of scientific knowledge.
The Faculty of Science offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge they need to excel in the scientific world. These programmes are rooted in a comprehensive curriculum that emphasizes hands-on learning, laboratory work, and research, ensuring that our students are well-prepared for careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
In addition to academic excellence, the Faculty is dedicated to the holistic development of students. We encourage students to participate in research projects, internships, and community outreach programmes that promote the use of science for societal good. Our faculty members are committed to mentoring and guiding students, providing them with the support needed to achieve their academic and professional goals.
Each programme within the Faculty has its own Student Handbook, designed to guide students through their academic journey. The Handbook provides important information on the University’s history, programme details, course descriptions, and general regulations regarding examinations and conduct. It also highlights prizes and awards available for outstanding academic performance.
The Faculty of Science is committed to making every student's experience at Dominican University enriching and fulfilling. Students are encouraged to seek guidance from their academic advisers, mentors, and counsellors whenever necessary. The offices of the Heads of Departments are always open for consultation, and students are welcome to approach the Dean of Students’ Affairs as well.
