The Programme was created to produce managerial manpower with appropriate knowledge, skills and
aptitude to handle the c growing and changing business environment. To familiarise students ever
with related business issues and management skills in tackling challenges of national and international development.
Objectives
The major objectives of this program are:
- To prepare students with an in-depth knowledge of the responsibilities usually exercised within the business functions.
- To equip the students with a general knowledge and understanding of the principles and practice of management.
- To expose the students to the awareness of the fundamental roles played by business organizations in national development.
- To develop a knowledge and understanding of the concepts, problems and practices of management.
- To equip students with leadership and interpersonal relations skills in management.
- Stimulate the latent entrepreneurial talents in the students and equip them with the necessary analytical tools and skills that can transform them to successful entrepreneurs.
- To provide high educational quality that will allow students to apply the scientific skills and knowledge of business administration in an ever-changing work environment.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of this programme can expediently secure employment in the Public and Private Organizations, Audit Firms, Consultancy Firms. Non-Governmental Organizations, Armed Forces, Academics and Research Institutions. more importantly, many of them are expected to set up their business outfits; they are trained to identify viable business opportunities and to operate and to manage them.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- UTME:
- Candidates seeking admission to the four-year Degree program must have obtained credit passes in five subjects at not more than two sittings at 'O' Level/Senior Secondary Certificate (WAEC, NECO etc.) Examinations. The credits must include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.
- Candidates must take at the UTME English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other Arts or Social Sciences subjects.
- Direct Entry:
In addition to the ordinary level requirements above, candidates for admission should possess:
- GCE A/Level passes in mathematics and at least one of the following subjects: Economics, Government, Commerce and Business Studies.
- Equivalently, candidate must posses credit level pass in Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or Merit Pass in National Certificate in Education (NCE) in relevant discipline from a recognised tertiary institution.
- Candidates with a good first degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in any management course would be considered.
- Inter-university Transfer
- Students transferring to Business Administration Department from Business Administration Department or any related discipline of any recognized and accredited University will be expected to be on a CGPA of not less than 3.0 on a 5-point scale.
- Such students cannot be accommodated beyond year III (300 level).
- Program Duration:
This programme offers a four (4) year study for candidates admitted through the UTME and a three (3) year study for candidates admitted through Direct Entry leading to the award of a degree of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Hons.) in Business Administration.
