Professor Hyginus Ekwuazi

Acting Vice Chancellor

Hyginus Ekwauzi is a Professor of Broadcasting & Film formerly at University of Ibadan, Ibadan. He heads the graduate programme in film production at the Pan-Atlantic University’s School of Media & Communication. Among numerous management and consultancy roles, he was founding Consulting Director, National Film Institute, Jos, CEO of the Nigeria Film Corporation [NFC], and also served as the Lead Trainer-Consultant for the World Bank funded Growth & Empowerment [GEM] project for Nollywood. He designed the NUC [National Universities Commission] CCMAS [Core Curriculum Minimum Academic Standards] for the BSc Film & Multimedia; & on several occasions has been involved in the NUC accreditation exercises.

He was the Multimedia Consultant for CHOGM: Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, [Abuja, Nigeria, 2003]. His research focus has been primarily on film/media production. His publication profile includes a substantial body of articles and books, as well as creative works. The most referenced works include: Film in Nigeria [1987; 1991; 2018]; A New Approach to the Screenplay [1993; 2002]; The Television/Film Documentary: A Production Resource Book [1998; 2008]; and Advertising on Television:
The Television Commercial from Premise, through Concept & Copy to Storyboard & Production [2007]. He is the lead editor of the TETFund-sponsored Film—A Resource Book [2022].

Currently, he is involved in the Goethe University-Frankfurt University research project [CEDITRAA—Cultural Entrepreneurship & Digital Transformation in Africa & Asia] where he primarily contributes to the work in Working Area C: Archives and Cultural Heritage, in Working Area D: Regional and Transregional Circulation(s) and in Project 1.5 on The Other Nollywood: Documentary Filmmaking Using Digital Technologies to Re- enact African History.

Brief Description:

The Bursary Department is the administrative arm of the University concerned with financial and accounting functions. It is headed by a
Bursar who is the Chief Financial Officer of the University. His main duties include advising the Vice-Chancellor on the day-to-day administration and control of the University’s funds, formulating financial policies, preparing budget and budgetary controls to safeguard the financial resources of the University.
